Overview:
The Fountain Hills Charter School Curriculum is
geared to a developmentally appropriate sequence of core competencies. These
competencies include, but are not limited to Arizona Academic Standards.
Learning opportunities are as varied as the student's needs the staff's
abilities and reasonable resources.
The Fountain Hills Charter School
curriculum constantly evolves to meet the needs of the individual student.
Advancement is determined by completion of demonstration projects and by
reaching 85% mastery of core curriculum sequence. In all cases, the student
participates in the setting of the mastery criteria. The students stay with the
personalized educational plan (PEP) or repeat it until the mastery criteria has
been reached. Individualized curriculum units are constantly developed as
teachers and students explore ideas together.
At Fountain Hills Charter School we keep
in mind that some children require more guidance and direction than other
children do. As each student demonstrates the ability to take charge of their
own education, and as basic training in the discipline is mastered, the system
provides more opportunities for student responsibility and self-direction.
